History of the Department
The Department was created in 1992 with the first name of feeding and breeding of farm animals. In 2010 the Department took the first place in the competitions of the Faculty Departments and 2nd place among all Universities Departments.

The main lines of the scientific activity:
- developing of modern genetic and breeding methods of control and increasing of farm animals' productivity;
- management of selective and flaming work with pigs, cattle, bees and dogs of different breeds;
- Analyzing of multicomponent rations influence on livestock feeding;
- Mineral and energy of animals nutrition and its improving;
- Fauna and ecology of land mollusks in the South of Ukraine фауна та еколог≥€.
There is a postgraduate course on the base of the Department. The pedagogical staff make a professional training for the students and graduators.
Each year lectures of the Department and their students of the Department take part in Ukrainian Scientific Olympiads, seminars and competitions. They also participate in foreign conferences in Russia, Byelorussia, the Netherlands and Italy. They publish their articles grounded on the researches in the foreign scientific editions.
The main line of the educational activity of the Department is the scientific working out of improvement and implementation of innovative genetic and selective methods into the breeding of farm animals using adequate biotechnologies.
Student of the Department have the possibility to make the distance work and practical classes on the base of leading regional agricultural enterprises.
The training process is improving every time. The video materials and innovative technologies are used while teaching.
The lecturers of the Department have opportunity to make in extension-course abroad, create new relations with Agricultural and Technical Universities of Russia, Austria, the Netherlands and other countries.
