MNAU. Technology of Producing and Processing Livestock Products Faculty.

One of the first faculties of the Higher educational establishment Zooengineering Faculty (now its Faculty of Technology of Producing and Processing of the Livestock Products, Standardization and Biotechnology) as a separate organization department has functioned since 1884 and was founded in Mykolayiv parallel with the Higher educational establishment.

The first dean of the Faculty was K. Samoylyk, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, the next deans were: V. Tsukanov, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, Associate Professor; V. Davydenko, Candidate of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor; Ye. Harder, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, Associate Professor; I. Kishchak, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor. Since 2000 the Faculty has been ruled by M. Gill, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor, member of National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine, academician of Academy of Science of Higher Education of Ukraine, High achiever of Ukrainian education and science (III, II degrees). At first only two departments were founded Department of General Zootechnics and Department of Feeding and Breeding of the Farm Livestock.

The highly qualified teaching staff contains 37 persons, 11 Doctors of Sciences and Professors, 26 Candidates of Sciences and Associated Professors. Two of them are members of State Academy of Sciences of our country and two of them are members of State Academy of Sciences of foreign countries.

For the distinguished achievements in research, educational and methodological work the scientifically-pedagogical staff of the Faculty was awarded with honorary ranks, bonuses and state rewards:

Scientific Activity:
- to develop and improve molecular genetic and biotechnological methods and technologies for improving the economically valuable features of farm animals;
- to develop components of resource-saving technologies for the production of high-quality products of livestock and poultry farming in the Southern region;
- to develop organizational and technical principles for the construction and implementation of individual elements of the safety system of livestock products;
- to consolidate the breeding and genetic features of the new type of pigs of the Durok breed of Ukrainian selection Steppe (DUSS), and to discover its genetic potential when crossing and hybridizing;
-program for the improvement and effective use in the southern Ukraine of the gene pool of pigs of Large White breed of English, Danish, French and Hungarian breeding;
- the project on introduction of the newest forms of index estimation of the breeding value of pigs of Durok breed of domestic breeding (DUSS);
- improvement of technological methods of production of quail production in the conditions of PE Lazarenko of Bratsky district, Mykolaiv region;
- improvement of reproductive qualities of rabbits in farms of Mykolaiv region;
- substantiation of methods of consolidation and improvement of cattle of the Ukrainian Red dairy breed POC Zorya, Kherson region;
- organization of work on the creation of a reproductive farm with the capacity of 300 heads of main sows and the development of technology for the effective cultivation of two-born pigs in the conditions of LLC Tavriysky pigs of Skadovsky district, Kherson region;
- scientific and technical support and development of the technology of efficient production of pork in the conditions of PJSC Pleemzavod Stepnoy of Zaporozhye region;
- efficiency of the use of targeted feed additives in farm animals and poultry feeding;
- biotechnological aspects of the improvement of technology of embryo transplantation in the system of rational use of the gene pool of cattle;
- improving the technology of production of dairy and meat products by quantitative and qualitative indicators;
- growing of fish-growing material with increased mass in conditions of grazing aquaculture;
- development and improvement of biotechnological regulation of reproductive function of farm animals;
- improvement and implementation of innovative technological solutions for increasing the production of livestock products, etc.

Scientific researches by the international grant of Ukraine, Russian Federation and Belarus on theme Research of dynamics of gene pool of domestic pigs Sus Scrofa under anthropogenic influence with the use of neutral and selection-dependent DNA-markers are completed.

The scientifically-pedagogical staff of the Faculty gained the right to give out the professional magazine of the advanced studies, articles Announcer of Agrarian Science of Black Sea Region in the field Agricultural Sciences, and also collection of the advanced studies of students.

MNAU. Technology of Producing and Processing Livestock Products Faculty.

Students of the Faculty, that have aptitudes for research work study in 16 scientific groups, traditionally participate in the All-Ukrainian state scientific student Olympiads in the disciplines: Biology, Philosophy, Chemistry, specialties Metrology and information-measuring mechanisms,Biotechnology and Bioengineering, Technology of Producing and Processing of the Livestock Products. They also participate in the All-Ukrainian competitions of the advanced studies for specialties of Technology of Producing and Processing of the Livestock Products, Food Technologies, Ecology and ecological safety and Veterinary Medicine, where they have obtained in the fight - prize places for more than 18 years, and further they continue their postgraduate studies on research specialty 204 Technology of producing and processing of the Livestock products on specializations:

By the order 793 of Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine from 04.04.2014 the work of the specialized academic council D 38.806.02 is continued on the Faculty with the right for consideration and dissertation defence on the receipt of scientific degree of Doctor/Candidate of Agricultural Sciences on scientific specialties: 06.02.01 Breeding and selection of animals; 06.02.04 Technology of producing of the Livestock products.

The head of the specialized academic council is appointed Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor M. Gill, the deputy is appointed Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor T. Nezhlukchenko; the secretary is appointed Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, Associated Professor S. Luhovyy.

On the 26 affiliates of the departments and other agricultural enterprises of our region (more than 90 on the whole) students do practical educational, technological and scientific-research trainings. Besides, the Faculty sets direct contacts with agricultural enterprises of the Kingdom of Denmark, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, France, Ireland, Switzerland, the USA, Belarus, Moldova, Uzbekistan where students that have the greatest rating of success have their practical training with the aim of increasing their professional level.

The second and the third year students of the Faculty have an opportunity to study and to get an additional higher national diploma with a specialization in economic or engineering sphere.

Students (youth and girls) during 3-5 years of study have an opportunity to master the complete program of studies on the Military Department and to become a reserve officer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Faculty supports creative scientific contacts with other higher educational establishments and leading research institutions of National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine, in particular: Institute of Animal Breeding and Genetics named after M.V. Zubets, Institute for Pig Breeding and Agroindustrial Production, Institute of Animal Breeding in the Steppe Regions Ascania-Nova, Institute of Fish Industry, Institute of Animal Husbandry.

Ponderable scientific researches of the Faculty of Technology of Producing and Processing of the Livestock Products, Standardization and Biotechnology in latter days...

During 2013-2018 a number of ponderable scientific educational publications were prepared.

The manual Biology of farm animals productivity was published on May, 2018 by the authors: Professors I. Gorbatenko, M. Gill; Associate Professors: I. Galushko, Yu. Dekhtyar; Academician of National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine V. Kozyr, member of National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine M. Zakharenko and Associate Professor V. Mykhalska. The manual is intended for post-graduate students, students of higher educational establishments, tutors of higher educational agrarian and ecological establishments.

2013-2018 - :

Monograph of S. Kramarenko Estimation of genetic structure and projection of productivity of the South meat breed animals by DNA-markers was published on March, 2018. It is intended for scientists, tutors, post-graduate students and students of higher educational agrarian establishments and specialists, dealing with molecular-genetic researches in the field of Animal Husbandry.


The manual Genetics of population by the authors: O. Trofymenko, M.Gill, O. Smetana was represented on February, 2018. The manual is intended for post-graduate students, students of higher educational establishments, tutors of higher educational agrarian and ecological establishments.

Recently the manualApoptosis programmed cell death. Curriuculum vitae - the life of the cellwas published by the authors: I. Gorbatenko, M. Gill, L. Denisyuk. The work is addressed to bachelors and masters of specialty 162 - Biotechnology and Bioengineering, as well as to the specialists in biological and medical specialties, post-graduate students and scientific and pedagogical workers. The manual provides data on apoptosis on the background of the evolutionary process, its signals, inductors and repressors, the role of cytochrome C in the release of mitochondria, apoptosis and necrosis, the role of mitochondria during apoptosis; the peculiarities of apoptosis in unicellular, plant and animal organisms, its role in age-related pathologies and illnesses are also represented there.

In 2016 the monograph by V. Melnyk and O. Kravchenko,Biotechnology of reproduction in pedigree pig breedingwas published. The paper highlights the practical implementation and effectiveness of the newest technologies of reproduction of pigs on modern breeding and industrial farms. The main attention is paid to the formation of productive qualities of rearing stocks of modern meet breeds. The organizational forms and content of breeding work, ways of estimating of boars and sows, and the acquisition of farms by breeding young animals for reproduction of the herd are described. The monograph is intended for scientists, post-graduate students, students of higher educational establishments, specialists of piglets and heads of farms of different ownership forms, and everyone who is interested in reproduction problems in pig breeding.

Theoretical bases of molecular-genetic processes, that have development and use in the national economy of our country, are widespread in the world and actual for biotechnological industry and agro-industrial production, are represented in this book. The study guide contains the detailed information and counted on students of specialty 6.051401 Biotechnology.

In 2010 he was elected a member of Department of Zootechnology of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine, a member of Scientifically-methodical Council of Agrarian Education of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine. In 2012 he became an academician of Department of Biology of Higher Education Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
